Ian / in white t-shirt: Ian out with the crew the day before the accident / Beth Lynch

I was the last reading with Beth Lynch on March 20th. My son Ian played the guitar and sang. He was very talented. So many messages from the entire evening could have come from him.

My reading:

  • He crossed in a boating accident while working as a deckhand on a super yacht (Although he did have tennis shoes on, they were not allowed to work barefoot)
  • He played guitar and sang very well
  • She mentioned Coldplay (we just went to Coldplay Candlelight Concert)
  • Lots of emotion there and in us all the time
  • She kept scratching her head, I did have his Patagonia hat on, I have been wearing it since he passed October 21, 2024
  • He also used to twirl his hair a lot
  • The accident happened at the opening of the Savannah River
  • After the stop in Savannah, they were heading to Florida to work on the boat then to Caribbean. She asked about St. Lucia, the boat is down in the Caribbean right now.
  • She asked if he was famous. Funny, because we have gotten so much support from our town. Everyone knew him and if they didn’t, they do now. He will be even more famous when we start his Foundation. We are working on that now. I keep saying that everyday people are going to say his name and say, “who the heck is Ian Merendino” We have to tell his story. It was so tragic and could have been prevented.

Lots of Piggy backing from the other readings:

  • He wore a pinky ring from his grandfather.
  • My husband’s name is Micheal and Ian (my son) was an excellent skier.
  • When we went to Savannah to recover his body, we were so distraught, my husband and I pinky swore we would not do anything to hurt ourselves
  • Someone mentioned socks. I wear his socks all the time, and today, I went through my sock drawer and his.
  • She mentioned Octopus, we went to Whole Foods a few Christmas back and he bought an entire Octopus and tried to cook it. I don’t think it turned out how he wanted.

It felt like the entire gallery reading was for me!

Also, I was wearing Ian’s socks last night. She also mentioned a mug. The captain of the boat always asks new crew of a mug they liked at home and buys them one similar. Ian’s was a whale mug where the tale was the handle. The captain mailed us the one he purchased for Ian to use on the ship.

He was our light, our only child, and was taken way too soon at 23 years old.

Thank you for what you have put together.

~Much Love, Angela Merendino
