Photos:  Homecoming his senior year. It was called the Hot Tamale Contest. The cheerleaders blindfolded five senior football players while some of them were applying lip gloss. The boys were supposed to guess who kissed them.  Once the blindfolds were in place, we moms came down from the stands then one at a time kissed them and then they had to guess who it was. Travis was the fourth to guess - as soon as I kissed him, he immediately jumped out of his chair ripping off his blindfold yelling, "THAT'S MY MOM!!!" Sadly the next and final boy still didn't figure it out and guessed a cheerleader lol /  The stance Travis always took when standing next to me or anyone else he cared about. Always an arm across your shoulder / Drew Polifrone

In the meeting with Medium Drew, Drew started off with a young boy. I thought it wouldn't be my son Travis because he was 20 years old when he crossed. But then Drew said, or maybe he is just YOUR boy. He brought up asphyxiation or choking, and I was sure it was Travis. But that also resonated with Anja, so I tried to just keep track of all of the things he was saying that were exactly a part of our story. He brought up January, a grandfather on the other side, that he was very close with his grandparents, and gambling. He brought up a name with a capital R, lucky number 13, and July. Of course, I can't forget Drew asking if he was an athlete, charismatic, and funny. He was all of these and so much more.

Sometimes it is hard for me in a reading because besides being a blended family, I also have a daughter in spirit who was/is Travis's half-sister.  Between my current husband (of 32 years) and I it goes like this:

Me - Jessica, Jamie (twins to make it more difficult), Danielle (in spirit) full siblings

    Travis (in spirit) - half-brother

Husband - Jordan

          Cassandra - half-sister to Jordan

Together - Alexis - half-sister to everyone

Confusing, I know... So sometimes when someone asks if Travis has a sister, I think Dani because she is in spirit, and he has brought her through before with him. Then the other sisters come up, sometimes the twins... And let's not even talk about how awkward I am! lol

Anyway, Travis was at a party his girlfriend's PARENTS planned. Texts between mom and daughter reveal mom's plans of drinking games and "JägerBombs."  Apparently, my competitive son won, because he passed out, threw up, and stopped breathing. The dad tried CPR with breaths (not recommended anymore) and didn't clear Travis's airway first. Then he asphyxiated. First validation.

January is Danielle's birthday (2). My father passed a few months ago (3) and his last name is Raymond (4). Travis was very close to my parents, we lived on their farm, and he spent hours from the age of 4 riding motorcycles in the fields and hunting there when he was older. (5) My parents used to go on farm tours with a group of friends, and one time they were all in Reno gambling (6), and a man on the street sold the ring I now have to my dad for $500. My mom DID like very nice things, and that was quite a deal - as Drew also said.

I love Friday the 13th, because something good has always happened for me on those days (7), and my birthday is in July (8). Travis was the captain of the football team and was so strong his coaches nicknamed him "Ox". He loved and was loved by so, so many in our community, the high school hosted his service (9).  For three days and four nights while Travis was on life support, there were people sleeping in the waiting room and hallways of the hospital.

Drew asked if Travis started partying young, and I stumbled over that one because he did get caught drinking with his friends when he was around 14 - he was caught because he called us and asked us to come get him. He was soooo upset for disappointing us he cried and apologized all the next day (10).

About a week before the reading, we had a frog in the house. No big deal, my grandson would catch it. Nope. The one that could was at a friend’s house, and the twelve-year-old (these are the ones mentioned in the reading) wanted nothing to do with it! By the end of the night my daughter and I had removed FIVE frogs from inside the house! I have no idea how they got in, but apparently Travis was watching!!

There was more regarding how long I've been on this journey, and being a light for other parents, and I have spent many hours with other parents I know or have met just starting their journey, I just hope that I can help them to give themselves grace and know that their children are still right here!

I would say, no matter how awkward I was, or how spotty my cell phone was, note to self - never use it again - that was MY son who came through.
