Sara / Kat Baillie

Wow! We had the most wonderful reading by Kat Baillie on December 5, and our beautiful daughter Sara came through loud and clear.

She started with “Jazz hands” motion, which was all Sara. The motion also reminded me of Sara’s Miss America wave everyone remembered her doing as a toddler.

Kat mentioned a rubber band by her wrist, which was her medical bracelet that was made of rubber. She wore it every day.

But what took our breath away was the mention of her dad making her bed look so beautiful as well as pictures we hung of her in our bedroom.

Just that day, my husband put beautiful fresh sheets on her bed, and we hung pictures we had been waiting to do- in our room. One was very large, and Kat mentioned Sara had a bit of sarcasm about how big it was! She loved to be sassy, and we loved that about her.
Kat asked if I had a sister. My sister has been my rock throughout all the grief and my daughter was extremely close to her. I’m not surprised she would come through to tell us to thank her beloved aunt.

And that sister of mine told me yesterday, out of the blue, that she would like to have a necklace made for me with Sara’s name. Kat mentioned a necklace! I had been telling my husband I wanted a necklace to wear every day that honored Sara to keep close to my heart, but never mentioned to my sister. I guess Sara had a hand in that!

Kat talked about raising money. Sara’s passing sparked over 70 people to send donations to her Special Needs Theatre Program and thousands of dollars were raised in her memory. I know she would be so proud of that.

We were unsure about the bicycle reference, but Sara was in a wheelchair as were some of her peers. Perhaps Kat saw those wheels around her. Her uncle did ride a bike to lead a parade for her birthday of 28 cars during Covid. He wore a funny wig, and it didn’t look like him.

Sara had multiple medical needs. We believe she may have been piggy backing with the next family Kat read after Sara, especially when she spoke about being much more than her disabilities. I told that to my precious girl all the time. Her disabilities did not define her and to concentrate on her abilities. Sara had open heart surgery, and she was also a respiratory patient who needed a ventilator for the last 17 years.

We are still thinking of that drink Kat spoke of and I will let you know once we figure that out. We will!

But we thank you for this wonderful moment.

It was very comforting to the both of us.

~Warmest wishes, Judy & Jan Neuman
