My March 9^th reading with Joy Giovanni

My first time attending the San Diego affiliate group meeting, I did not know there was going to be a medium there.

I had just introduced myself to the group and shared several things about Nick before Joy had arrived. 

Joy started by saying her practice is to play a song to open the readings. She said the song she originally had picked to play was being replaced by a different song that she felt one of our kids made her choose. The song was Dancing in the Sky by Dani and Lizzy.  She started telling us who was coming through. I was already crying because that song is the first song that is on Nick’s memorial tribute video. And I just watched the video that morning with his Grandma. Several of the moms were already pointing at me saying “it’s her son!!!”

Joy shared that my son pushed through saying he needed to make sure he could prove it to my mom, that she still has doubts.  

Joy described him as persistent, determined, even a power point wouldn’t have convinced him to do things differently than what he was going to do. She said the last 3 years he was making progress which is so true, Nick became a Heavy Equipment Operator Journeyman and bought a house on his own at the age of 24.

Joy described Nick as a daredevil, and he had substance challenges but he wasn’t pursuing it, it just came to him and was so easily available to him especially in the line of his work. She explained that there was an estrangement between us, but it was less than 2 months (which is correct, it was 5 weeks). That his intention was to reach out soon because he knew his mom would have shown up at his door if he let it go for 2 months. I truly believe Nick was going to reach out to me on Mother’s Day, he just didn’t stay long enough.

Joy asked about my memorial tattoo and said that Nick was happy that I made it to the meeting and found these support groups because he knew I was hesitant to come.

Joy explained that Nick was trying to get his name to me that I would be seeing his name where I went. Which yes, I found Nick’s automative when I was searching for an oil change. Recently I drove by Nick’s furniture store and his aunt had given me a box of Nick’s protein bars the night before which is crazy because I didn’t even know there was a protein bar brand of Nick’s.

Joy also knew my brother was in spirit with him and mentioned they were very similar, which I always said they were the same person.

All these things were true and spot on!

Nick crossed over on 5/3/2024, forever 26.
